Therapeutic Approaches Adapted for Online Care
Client-Centered Therapy focuses on creating a respectful, nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship where the client’s perspective guides the work. It helps people build self-understanding, improve self-esteem, and make choices that reflect their values. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is practical and action-oriented, helping clients identify unhelpful thoughts and patterns and develop new skills to reduce anxiety, manage mood, and cope with stress. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma-informed approach that supports processing of distressing memories and related symptoms; when appropriate, it can be adapted for use in online sessions with trained clinicians.
Finding the right approach is part of the therapeutic process. Russell Pippin and other licensed professionals work collaboratively with each person to determine which methods best fit their needs, goals, and preferences, and they adjust the plan as therapy unfolds.
Online therapy offers practical flexibility through video sessions, phone calls, live chat, and text-based messaging, making it easier to fit care into busy schedules and to maintain continuity during life transitions. These formats allow therapists to deliver consistent support, teach coping strategies, and coordinate care while accommodating different communication styles and logistical needs.
