About Erika Rana
Erika has worked with people involved in the foster care system, the criminal justice system, and those receiving treatment for substance use, as well as survivors of domestic violence and other forms of abuse. She brings experience working with LGBT clients, African American and Caribbean communities, and other people of color, and has provided care to members of the kink community. Her practice also addresses issues such as relationship and family challenges, career concerns, depression, anxiety, stress, grief, trauma and abuse, addictions, intimacy and sexual concerns, parenting, body image and eating issues, codependency, and caregiver stress.
In private practice she has supported people through spiritual-related crises following challenging psychedelic experiences, integrating somatic and contemplative tools when appropriate. She is a certified yoga teacher and Reiki master and may incorporate those modalities alongside psychotherapy when they align with a client’s goals and preferences. Born and raised in Mexico City, Erika offers therapy in both English and Spanish and has a particular affinity for serving Latino and Spanish-speaking communities. Outside of her work she is a mother and part of a bicultural family, and she values creative self-expression through art and body art.

Therapeutic Approaches for Online Relational Care
Erika integrates client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and attachment-informed methods to guide online work. Client-centered therapy focuses on creating a nonjudgmental, empathetic environment where the client’s own goals and strengths lead the process - it is especially helpful for building self-understanding, self-esteem, and trust in the therapeutic relationship.Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) offers practical skills to identify and shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, which can ease symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress and support concrete change in daily routines. Attachment-Based approaches explore relational patterns and early attachment experiences to improve connection, communication, and intimacy in adult relationships and family systems.
Finding the right combination of approaches is part of the therapeutic process. Erika works collaboratively with each person to determine which methods match their needs, values, and goals, adjusting techniques over time as progress unfolds.
Online sessions by video, phone, live chat, or text-based messaging provide flexibility for people juggling work, family, or geographic constraints. These formats make it easier to maintain continuity of care during life transitions, schedule sessions that fit a busy week, and access licensed professionals from familiar surroundings, while still receiving focused, evidence-informed therapeutic support.
